Update from chief exec of OMBC: The Council has no alternative but to come to the conclusion that this matter has not been taken at all seriously and little effort or commitment has been shown by your company over the last month, with a view to finally resolving this long outstanding situation, as was agreed.

On this basis I can re-confirm that the Council will now be proceeding with all formal action available to us to remedy the situation and help speed up progress, with the costs of any action taken in default being fully re-charged to your company, in light of the current non-compliance."

OMBC PRESS RELEASE

Oldham Council is continuing to ensure that agreements regarding Royton Assembly Hall are followed to the letter with the announcement that enforcement action will now be taken after the current owners – Whispers Developments – failed to carry out agreed work within the time limits demanded.

The Leader of the Council said: “A clear schedule of work that was needed to be done by Whispers Development on the Royton Assembly Hall site was set out by the Council at the start of September as the saga over the completion of this venue had gone on for far too long.

“However officers have reported that absolutely none of this work has been completed to anywhere near the agreed and required standard and so - as clearly stated from the outset - the Council will now be initiating a range of enforcement action to ensure that this work is carried out as quickly as possible.

“Whispers Developments have had plenty of time to deal with these actions but have not. This is totally unacceptable and the Council will now do what it stated to enforce these actions.

“This is not the end of the matter and the Council will continue to monitor work on the site, or lack of it, closely and enforce all required actions as necessary.”

Thanks to Bernard Judge for the above info.
